  • Never Stop Building LLC 772 Rome Road Mercer, ME, 04957 United States (map)

Sunday afternoon will be the planing contest!

Starting after lunch, everyone participating will submit their best shavings to the judges for consideration. At 3PM, the top 12 qualifiers will face-off for ultimate bragging rights and prizes! The rules in brief:

  • There will be a special planing board prepared flat and true by one of the judges.

  • After each finalist the next finalist can either have a judge (the cleaner) refresh/redress the surface  or use up to 3 minutes to prepare the surface themselves.

  • Each finalist can take up to 3 final shavings. Whichever shaving you end on, will be the one you submit. You can't go back.

  • Judges will measure the shaving with a calibrated micrometer in 3 places, beginning, middle and end. The 3 measurement will give an average and point at overall consistency. The shaving will also be  assessed for its fullness of width and quality.

  • After everyone takes their shaving, the winner will be named!
