Let’s get warm in the winter cold! The brush has died off and it’s time to cut trees! Join our workshop where we will fell trees, prepare them, and learn the principles of center-line layout on an irregularly shaped timber. Timbers worked on during this workshop may likely be used in both the Spring and Summer Timber Frame Workshops.


Topics Covered

  • Tree selection and judgement

  • Using a bandsaw mill

  • Introduction to log hewing

  • Establishing center lines on irregular timbers

  • Transfering joinery plans to timbers

Included with Tuition

Meals Included - This workshop includes breakfast, lunch and dinner on each day with the exception of the last day, where only breakfast and lunch are served. Meals are typically brought in or cooked family style.

None, come as you are!

Required Tools

The following tools are required to get the most out of your experience. A loner may be available but not guaranteed. A curated kit of premium Japanese tools will be available for purchase at checkout.
