The Saw Mill Shrine

A massive Eastern White Pine timber frame to enclose our saw mill operations. Built as a collaboration with Somakosha as for the 2024 Japanese Timber Frame Workshop. A team of 22 students cut the bulk of the joinery and assembled the frame.

Features natural curved beams, hewed from locally sourced, 45 foot pine logs. Scribe fit mortise and tenon joinery and scarf joints tie the frame together. White Pine throughout, Osage Orange pegs, Hemlock rafters, Pine tongue and groove roof decking.
